Coastrek
Embark on a fitness journey that's more exiting than anything you've done. Click here to view video.
Coastrek is Australia's most iconic charity hiking challenge, running in 6 states around the country.
Thousands of wild women and men immerse themselves in nature for an epic adventure of fun, fitness, friends, and fundraising to support the Heart Foundation.
In 2023, myself and 2 amazing women, Sanonu and Amanda, calling ourselves Strength Strekkers walked 30 klms from Mudjimba to Noosa, raising $3,281 towards vital research in the area of coronary heart disease. Every cent raised through Coastrek has gone directly towards research. In total Sunshine Coast Trekkers raised an amazing $779,856!
This year I am looking to build teams of 4 to walk 30 klms along the Sunshine Coast on 19 July.

What makes Coastrek different?
It's a team challenge so everyone achieves more! Coastrek is all about friends training, fundraising and hiking together to achieve a common goal. We keep each other on track, and you've always got a buddy to encourage you to keep going to the finish line. There is so much excitement and a buzz in the air as you begin your journey to the finish line and celebrate success with your team.

It's getting more women into the outdoors.
In 2009, when the first Coastrek event was held, there was a lack of female representation in outdoor adventure and endurance events. Di Westaway set out to change this and unapologetically focused on female participation. Everyone is welcome to take part in Coastrek - but there will always be a commitment to getting more women moving in nature and falling in love with fitness.
Why we all love our support crew
Our support crew are gorgeous friends and family who are available on Event Day to cheer us on and provide love, food, treats, gear, fresh socks or shoes or anything else you might need.
This could be as small as doing a coffee run, or as big as planning a full sit-down picnic with candles, foot massage and chocolate dipped strawberries.
Support crew are highly recommended for first time trekkers.
5 ways to supercharge your daily walk.
We all know how beneficial walking can be, both mentally, physically and spiritually. But sometimes, despite this, we really don’t feel like getting outside. To combat boredom and add some extra health benefits to your daily walk, try these five activities:
Colour Walk
Before you head out for your daily walk, pick a colour and try and spot as many objects as possible that match the colour! It’s a great way to stay present, connect with nature, unwind and recharge, all while getting your steps up!
Rubbish Clean Up
Here’s a great way to build fitness and help the environment! Next time you go on a walk, take a garbage bag and gloves with you and pick up rubbish along the way. It’s a great way to stay distracted, feel very smug and can give a sense of purpose to your daily walk. Plus, the planet will thank you!
Walk At Twilight
Walking at sunset and into the twilight brings a quiet peace that can be very nurturing and healing. Take your walk as the sun sets and breathe in the fresh air. Don’t forget your head torch… it can get very dark once that sun goes down!
Walk With a Mate
Whether two legged or four, walking with a mate is a guaranteed way to brighten up your walk.
You know your doggo is going to love helping you get your steps up, so spoil them and yourself with some extra walkies.
If you don’t have a four-legged friend, a mate will do 😉 Chatting away with a friend is a great way to pass the time and turn your walk into a social occasion. If nobody is near enough to pop out with you, phone a friend, sibling or parent while you hit the trails.
Set Yourself a Challenge
Many of us have a competitive side, so why not take advantage of that and challenge yourself! For a week, set out on a 30-minute walk. The challenge is to see if you can get more and more steps each day! This means walking a little faster each day. It sounds simple but it really works!
